The Children and Youth Dance Theatre has performed extensively in the Toronto and Western Ontario, appearing in numerous local festival and events hosed by community organizations in Canada. In 2000 and 2004, members of our Dance Team had the opportunity to travel to Jamaica to participate in the summer dance-training program at the Edna Manley College of the Arts. The students reported after they returned that they learned more than dance techniques, they realized how other people lived and the daily challenges they faced. This brought a new focus to their schoolwork and their behavior towards others.
In January 2012 we had the wonderful opportunity to perform at the Queen Elizabeth theatre for the Annual International Association for Black in Dance, and in the summer of that year represented Canada at the Dance and the Child International (DaCi) Conference in Jamaica. At both conferences our children had the opportunity to represent Canada as performers and interact with young dancers as well as professional dancers from all over the world. In 2014 they again represented Canada as performers at the YDance International Youth Dance Festival where they won acclaim for their outstanding performance and the exemplary skills being the youngest dancers in the Festival.
